Garden update!

So our garden has been growing pretty fast, especially over the last two weeks.  I've been fertilizing with a natural seaweed/fish oil fertilizer and it has made all the difference in our plants.  Our watermelon has been growing like crazy and producing about 7-8 melons so far.  I ended up adding a 4th box to help the vines have room to grow.

 A surprise this week!

So we have been very lucky so far with most of our fruits/veggies/herbs, but our two stubborn ones have been cantaloupe and our squash.  After getting rid of some little squash bugs that were trying to kill our squash, we have had success!  3 baby squash showed up and are growing very well.

Squash finally!
Watermelon has been the biggest surprise lately with how it is growing.  If you ever plant watermelon, make sure you give it room to grow because it will vine and attach itself to everything!  I have thought about cutting it back, but every time I'm about to go "grim reaper" I find more watermelons showing up.  I found one last night hidden in the middle of the vines about the size of my fist.

Here are some of our lastest melons we've spotted:

So I'm pretty much becoming a garden nerd this year.  It really has been interesting and isn't that difficult to do on a small scale.  Still learning alot, but it has really given me an appreciation for what it takes to grow the veggies that we get at the store and buy every week.  I now put more thought into what veggies I purchase and do my best not to waste as I feel extremely guilty if something is not used.  :)

Here are couple other pics:
