Danielle and I have been messing around with our nutrition lately. We fell into the rut of jumping around trying different diets and/or point systems to try and see if it would make a difference. Well, it did the complete opposite. After weeks of playing mind games with ourselves, we are back with Paleo full time. It is the only way we have both felt strong (mentally/physically) and dropped weight the correct way together.
The problem
We keep trying to find a way to incorporate the garbage in our eating when it comes to point systems, deal a meal, or what ever system is popular. "We ate great today, so let's eat like crap for dinner to reward ourselves!". This is like telling a drug addict that they can have a hit of heroin tonight and start clean tomorrow - you know, to reward yourself! It just doesn't work like that for us. That one hit of crap food turns into a succession of bad meal choices in our house. What can we do? Find a way to keep the crap food out!
I watched a bunch of Robb Wolf videos lately and that guy really got me to really take a look at my nutrition again. If you never listened to this guy, you should check him out. I know that when we did 6 weeks of Paleo during the ME challenge last year, that was the best we felt in regards to energy levels and our performance at CFC. I truly believe that the combination of paleo and CFC wods kept me from bottoming out after I had my thyroid removed. I had no thyroid meds from 3/24 to Mid May. What was supposed to take 2 to 3 weeks for my system to bottom out actually took more like 6 weeks to happen. At week six I was not as low as the doctors wanted me to be, but had no choice to move forward with my radiation treatment. I'm a big believer that what I was doing at CFC and what I was feeding my body made this difference.
The Fluff and Fold Contest
We have decided to take the least favorite chore in our house (laundry) and make it into a contest! From 3/28-4/30, we will compete for the opportunity to NOT DO LAUNDRY FOR 30 DAYS!!! The winner will be decided by weight loss percentage and number of inches lost on specific areas of the body.
We love this contest since we both hate laundry, especially folding clothes! Already there has been some serious smack talk between us about who's going to be the laundry gimp next month. Wanna miss that workout, go right ahead! Wanna eat bad - I'm not your momma! If your dream is to fold towels, shirts, and underwear for 4 weeks, no one here wants to stomp on someone's dream! Wish us luck!
