100 push ups, 200 sit ups, and coconut chicken

Today was a great Monday for us in regards to our eating and starting our goal work.

Daily recap
We both continued to eat clean and made our 5:00am workout this morning.  I didn't feel as strong in my workout this morning, but I know that my sleep schedule has been all over the place lately.  This is something I have to correct if I'm going to get the most out of my workouts.  I hit a wall today in the afternoon pretty hard and I really feel it was due to lack of sleep, not nutrition.  Danielle felt really good in her workout today as well.  She got a little sick feeling when we got back from the workout, but it went away.  She felt great when she got home, and we took Maya (our dog) out for a run tonight.  We are starting our running back up, so that we are ready to do our 10k at the end of February.  Running felt really good tonight, but could have used some warmer weather.

Goals and concerns
Both Danielle and I have talked about our goals for this year, and we're very motivated to achieve them.   With that being said, we've both wanted to improve on our push ups. We found a couple of websites that have a plan for us to get to 100 pushups (http://www.hundredpushups.com/) and a plan to do 200 situps (http://www.twohundredsitups.com/).  We liked the idea of getting extra work on situps along with pushups.

One of our concerns is that we don't overload our plates when it comes to goal work in 2011. Too many times we feel that we've stacked the goal pile so high that it becomes meaningless and just crumbles. We talked about this over dinner tonight and agreed that we will focus on what we've already put out there for 2011.  We're really motivated right now and looking forward to this year.

I want to make it clear that we are not trying to put a time stamp on what we're doing here.  Don't get me wrong, there isn't anything wrong with setting a goal with a time frame in mind.  I actually applaud that type of work and dedication.  What we want to get out of this year is a fundamental change in how we look at nutrition and exercise.  Many times in the past we've hit a "goal" or made improvements within a set time frame.  What we have a problem with is putting that goal behind us and finding a new goal while applying the lessons we learned to our daily life.  This is what we must improve.

Good dinner tonight
Tonight we made coconut chicken with cauliflower rice for dinner.  It turned out great!  I highly suggest that you try the cauliflower rice!  Danielle hates cauliflower and she loved this!  It is a really good substitute if you crave potatoes.

The house smells awesome!

Time to sleep.  Good night!
